On the one hand I can see the appeal of this kind of service. Change your handbag monthly, carry a designer handbag for less, but really…how many people carried that bag before you? And what did they do with it? I know it is pretty terrible but I can be awful with my bag. With the kids I can be known to throw all kinds of untoward things in my bag.

To Rent or Not to Rent

I think it’s probably obvious, given the running theme of this site, what my position is on the matter. If I were more cynical about the subject, I might think that they were getting people hooked on fabulous bags by starting with a rental which leads to countless inevitable purchases at high prices.

Certainly, if you’re the kind of girl who wants to wear only the “of the moment” bag for a fleeting amount of time, and then get rid of it in favor of the next big bag, then bag rental services do seem like a good idea. Personally though, while I do like staying on top of the latest trends, I often go into my closet and re-wear plenty of handbags from previous seasons.
